The Founder, Nasiru Haladu Danu Foundation, Alhaji Nasiru Danu, has underscored the importance of national unity and integrity in nation-building at the 7th OurNigeria News Awards.
Danu, who was the Chairman of the occasion, described credibility as the defining value that separates meaningful awards from mere ceremonial events.
He said the integrity and consistency of OurNigeria News Magazine had earned it respect within and outside Nigeria, noting that organising a credible platform for recognising excellence required dedication and trust built over time.
According to him, the diversity of award recipients from different parts of Africa reflected the growing continental relevance of the magazine.
“Anybody can organise an award ceremony, but what truly matters is the integrity and credibility behind such recognition,” he said.
Danu assured the organisers of his continued support, while highlighting the humanitarian focus of his foundation, saying it remained committed to promoting humanity, unity and cohesion within Nigeria and across Africa.
In a goodwill message as Royal Father of the Day, the Emir of Doma Kingdom, Alhaji Ahmadu Onawo, described OurNigeria as more than a publication, but a message of hope and patriotism that reminds Nigerians of their shared ownership of the country.
Onawu said Nigeria was blessed with exceptional human and natural resources, stressing that Nigeria’s challenge was not a lack of endowment but of collective failure to deploy resources effectively for nation-building and sustainable development.
“Nigeria has no reason to be poor, and Nigerians have no reason to remain poor,” he said.
The royal father urged citizens across all strata to take responsibility for building a prosperous and self-reliant nation.
Also delivering a goodwill message, Mericel Romero, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Colombia, congratulated the award recipients for their leadership and service, describing the ceremony as a celebration of excellence, integrity and purposeful leadership.
The event brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives, professionals and civil society actors from within and outside Nigeria to honour outstanding contributions to national and continental development.
The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, was honoured with the award of the Man of the Year 2025, in recognition of his national leadership, commitment to security and service to Nigeria’s peace and stability. (NAN)
