The 176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, has trained 103 women in various vocational and entrepreneurship skills as part of its sustained efforts to promote economic empowerment among families of military personnel.
This is contained in a statement by the acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Guards Brigade, Lt. Odunola Olawuyi, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Okawuyi said the four-day programme, held at Gen. O.A. Azazi Barracks, was organised by the Commanding Officer, Lt.-Col. Oladimeji Ajongbo, with the theme ‘Entrepreneurship Wisdom to Maximize Skills and Opportunities’.
She said the training featured sessions on business development, branding and personal growth, alongside practical lessons in paint, yoghurt, granola, parfait and scented-candle production.
According to her, the participants produced items branded “Hawk Yoghurt” and “Hawk Paints,” which were unveiled at the closing ceremony.
“Starter kits and certificates were presented to all beneficiaries, while five women also received CAC registration certificates to support the take-off of their businesses.
“The programme ended with hands-on exercises in screeding and painting, after which two buildings in the barracks were repainted using the newly produced Hawk Paints,”;she said.
In his remarks, Ajongbo said the initiative was aimed at strengthening self-reliance and improving the economic wellbeing of military families.
He said the initiative illustrated a commitment to empowering military families, fostering self-reliance, financial stability, and contributing to community development. (NAN)
