“… as Nasarawa Speaker, Ombugadu, others hail his outstanding performance…”
Member representing Keffi East Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. John Ovey has empowered the people of his constituency with items worth millions of Naira.
This, he said was to enable them to be self reliant, improve in their standard of living and contribute positively to the development of the constituency.
Hon. Ovey, PDP and Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources made the distribution in Keffi tofay Thursday.
He said that the empowerment was part of his commitment to improve on the standard of living of the people of his constituency.
According to him, items distributed included 16 grinding engines, 13 sewing machines, 10 motorcycles, 5 cars and 5 generators.
” I have provided transformer, employment, among others to my people.
“Today, is a historic event that showcase the love we have for our people, the distribution of Cars, Motorcycles, sewing machines, Grinding Machines, and Generator sets.
” As equipment to constituents is more than just a handout, it’s a strategic investment in the potential of our people.
” These tools will enable our beneficiaries to start or expand their businesses, create jobs and improve their socio-economic well-being.
” I believe that economic empowerment is key to unlocking the potentials of our people.
” By Providing these resources, we are giving our people the means to take charge of their lives, generate income and contribute to the growth and development of our community,” he said.
” By God’s grace, I will continue to do my best towards keying into different policies and programmes that will change on your lives and the lives of other people positively” he said.
Hon. Ovey disclosed that he has facilitated 20 solar boreholes in 10 electoral wards of Keffi LGA.
” I drilled 2 motorized boreholes in each of the electoral ward of Keffi East constituency.
” I have purchased 500KVN transformers worth N15 million in low-cost Angwan Rimi ward.
” I also secured permanent and Pensionable employment to constituents who before now are idle.
” I electrified Yelwa Soba Community as well as Dokari Community in Sabon-Gari Electoral ward,” he said.
Hon. Ovey urged the beneficiaries not to sale the items but use them to improve on their standard of living positively.
He also urged those , who are yet to benefit from his gesture to exercise patient, while assuring them of better days ahead.
The lawmaker solicited for the prayers and support of his people to enable him succeed beyond 2027.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly commended Hon. Ovey for having his people at his heart.
He said that Hon. Ovey is one of the lawmakers he is proud of due to his dedication to duties and good work.
Jatau said that the members of the State House of Assembly under his watch remain united irrespective of their affiliations.
” Members of the 7th State House of Assembly under my watch remain united.
” Our logo is unity we stand.
” We are working in unity, togetherness and peace irrespective of our affiliations. As what we want is peace and development in the state,” he said.
Speaker Jatau called on the people of the constituency to support Hon. Ovey to succeed beyond 2027.
He also called on the stakeholders of the state to remain peaceful , adding that peace and love should be their focus point.
On his part, Hon. David Ombugadu, 2023 PDP Gubernatorial candidate, Hon Francis Orogu, Hon. Ibrahim Bala Moskolo, Secretary, Keffi LG, Alh.Sani Muhammad, former PDP Youth Leader, Nasarawa State, Hon. Danlami Awuje appreciated Hon. Ovey for the distribution.
They also commended him for keying into different projects and programmes that will have direct impacts on the lives of his people.
They also said that the Lawmaker is doing well in the state legislature.
They called on the people of the constituency to support Hon. Ovey to succeed beyond 2027.
Responding, a beneficiary, Mrs Hadiza Abdullahi appreciated Hon. Ovey for the gesture and assured him of their loyalty and support to succeed at all times.
She said that Hon. Ovey is one of the best legislators Keffi East ever produced.
