Maj.-Gen. Saidu Audu assumes command at Multinational Joint Task Force

Maj.-Gen. Saidu Audu, in Thursday, took over commands as the new Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), from the erstwhile Commander, Maj.-Gen. Godwin Mutkut, at the Headquarters in N’djamena, Chad.

This is contained in a statement by the Chief Military Public Information Officer, MNJTF, Lt.-Col. Iweha Ikedichi, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

In his remarks, General Audu thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged to consolidate on the gains recorded by his predecessor.

He charged troops to remain disciplined, focused, and innovative in the conduct of operations.

He also stressed the need for stronger collaboration with local communities and security stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in the Lake Chad region.

The outgone Force Commander, Maj.-Gen. Mutkut, appreciated the Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, partner nations, and international collaborators such as the African Union and European Union for their sustained support to the mission.

He attributed the achievements of the MNJTF to teamwork and professionalism, urging officers and men to extend the same cooperation to his successor as he proceeds to his new appointment as Corps Commander Infantry in the Nigerian Army.

Highlights of the event included the signing of handover notes, presentation of the command flag, and a group photograph. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
