The Senior Pastor of The Transforming Church (TTC) and Convener of “Encounter 2025″, Sam Oye, has declared that Nigeria does not need foreign intervention to solve its security challenges.
Oye said this on Wednesday in Abuja at a news conference to herald the upcoming “Encounter 2025″ worship event scheduled to hold in the FCT.
He therefore urged the government to step up its constitutional responsibilities, adding that the “Encounter 2025” would serve as an opportunity for the Church to unite in prayer for national peace, stability, and transformation.
He said the annual event coming up on Friday comes at a crucial time when the nation is faced with widespread fear, insecurity, and economic hardship.
He also said that the event aimed to create “an atmosphere where hope is inspired and joy finds expression again”.
He advised the government to equip and motivate the military while investing in technology to tackle insecurity.
“Nigeria needs prayers now more than ever. We don’t need foreign intervention; our government must rise to the occasion.
“The Nigerian military has the competence, what we need is the political will to act decisively.
“The government must give attention to the military, equip them, motivate them, and deploy modern warfare technology,” he said.
Oye also warned against external interference in Nigeria’s affairs, noting that foreign interests could complicate the nation’s fragile unity.
He further warned that foreign powers such as the United States, China, Russia, and members of the BRICS bloc have competing interests in Nigeria, adding that any external military involvement could fragment the nation.
He called on religious and political leaders to exercise caution in their speech, stressing that “words start wars” and that national unity must remain a top priority.
The cleric noted that while the Church continued to pray for the nation, security remained the core responsibility of the government.
According to him, Nigeria needs prayer right now. I want to say that our government doesn’t need to keep quiet until the United States intervene.
“So we are praying that God will give our leadership the wisdom and the courage to tackle the insecurity that is bedeviling the middle belt and the northern part of our country.
“It is our prayer that the security architecture of our country will rise to the occasion. We don’t need any foreign intervention if our government will step into the situation. Nigeria is not like any other country.”
Similarly, Pastor Isaiah Emmanuel, Chairman, Pastorial Board of the Church, revealed that comprehensive security, medical, and transport arrangements had been made available for attendees, with free buses provided from major locations across Abuja and environs.
In the same vein, Dr Sam Idiagbonya, the church Spokesperson, revealed that 2025 marked a decade of the Encounter, which began in 2015.
He noted that the event would be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, and and other channels for those that could not participate physically to join hands with others in praying for the country.
