Walson-Jack hands over to new education perm.sec
The Head of Service (HOS) designated, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack has charged the incoming permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr Nasir Gwarzo on transforming the sector.
Walson-Jack was speaking during the handing over ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday.
She commended the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman for his inspirational push to exceed personal expectations.
“I have full confidence that under the leadership of the incoming Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of Education will continue to thrive and achieve even greater milestones.
“I urge all Heads of Departments, Units and Agencies, staff, the joint union and all other stakeholders in the education sector to extend your full support and cooperation to the new Permanent Secretary.
“The journey to transforming our education system is a collective effort, and I am confident that together, you will continue to make remarkable strides,” she said.
She also commended the staff unions and other members of staff for their unwavering support and confidence in her six months stay at the ministry.
She added that their support had been instrumental in collective effort to advance education and empowerment in the country.
Watson-Jack therefore charged the incoming permanent secretary to build upon the foundation laid as well as continuous fostering collaboration among all stakeholders for the betterment of the educational system.
Responding, the incoming permanent secretary, Gwarzo, pledged to live up to and beyond his predecessors achievements.
He explained that the challenges in the sector was enormous, being the largest ministry but promised to surmount them.
He urged directors in the ministry to live up to their responsibilities, saying that he would be working directly with them while they work with deputy directors and others.
Recall that President Bola Tinub announced the appointment of Watson-Jack as the new Head of Service (HOS).
Watson-Jack is to take over from the present HOS, Folashade Yemi-Esan on August 14 after the expiration of her tenure.
Gwarzo on the other hand until his posting to the ministry of education was the permanent secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs.
