The Police Command in Nasarawa State has arrested a robbery suspect at a check point with a fire arm and ammunition.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel made available to newsmen on Sunday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Acording to Nansel, the suspect was arrested on Saturday, May 25 at about 8:00pm following a tip off.
“Acting on intelligence about robbery at Kabayi, Aso Pada and Mararaba communities of Karu Local Government Area (LGA) near the FCT, our personnel attached to Mararaba A-Division mounted a check point at Kabayi where the suspect was arrested.
“The suspect, a 26-year-old name withheld of Aso Pada was arrested. A locally fabricated Barretta pistol with one live ammunition were recovered from him,” Nansel said.
The police spokesperson explained that the suspect had made useful statements and was helping the command in investigation.
Acccordin to him, investigation revealed that the suspect alongside other members of his gang were responsible for the series of robbery in the Kabayi, Aso Pada and Mararaba metropolis.
Nansel further said that effort to trail and arrest other members of the gang was ongoing.
He added that, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umarr Nadada had ordered that the suspect be charged to court for prosecution.
