A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday, sentenced a 32-year-old tailor, Samaila Aminu to nine months imprisonment for assault and wilful damage.

The Magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, however, gave the convict an option to pay N20,000 fine.

The magistrate also ordered the convict to N40,000 as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Feb. 5, at the “C” Police station Jos by one Sulaiman Aminu, the complainant.

The prosecutor alleged that the convict attacked a tricycle rider and broke his tricycle windscreen without provocation.

The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau state Penal Code Law.
