The Auxiliary Bishops, Anselm Umoren of Archdiocese of Abuja has urged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume to focus on investing in people for poverty reduction.

Umoren said this on Sunday in Abuja at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nyanya during a thanksgiving mass of Tiv catholic community, Abuja.

He said that one of the solutions to Nigerian problems was to invest in human.

“The role of human capital in the growth process of any nation is crucial. It is a major tool for poverty reduction,” he said.

According to him, whatever the leaders does without investing in the people will not yield any good results for the country.

“We as leaders should endeavour to invest in people rather than giving them money that would pass away after their tenure.

“But when leaders invest in people even after their tenure they will be remember for their good work as with such act poverty will be reduced,” Umoren said.

According to him, Nigeria is facing security challenges such as Boko Haram Terrorists, militancy, armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping and so on.

He called on Nigerians to turn to God in prayer as He is the only one that can solve the country’s problems.

“We live longer by lifting others, in this life only selfness people will excell.

“Be patient with people and invest in them which should be the only legacy you will be happy you left behind,” he said

Akume asked the bishop to pray for President Bola Tinubu and all the leaders in his cabinet in order for them to achieve their goals.

He promised to ensure that his main focus would be investing in people so that poverty can be addressed.

Akume did fundraising and generated the sum of 70, 300 million for the Tiv community.
