The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),  Anambra Sector Command, says a nine-year old boy, on Saturday, died in an accident on the Asaba axis of the River Niger Bridge.

The Anambra FRSC sector commander, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, disclosed this to Newsmen on Monday in Onitsha.

Irelewuyi added that many other pedestrians sustained different degrees of injuries, while the nine-year old boy died when a truck that failed brake, crashed into the pedestrians on the walkway.

The sector commander commiserated with the family of the dead victim, and wished the injured persons quick recovery.

He, however, reiterated his advice that drivers should always endeavour to ensure their vehicles were in good functional condition before embarking on any journey.

“On suspecting brake failure, drivers are advised to park such vehicle off the road to avoid casualties and loss of lives,” he said.
