Four National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members of the 2021 Batch C stream 1 in Sokoto State are to repeat their service year.

Alhaji Muhammad Nakamba, NYSC Coordinator in Sokoto, made the disclosure at the passing out ceremony of the Corps members on Thursday in the state.

Nakamba said that two others have their service extended by three weeks for misconduct and abscondment during the service year.

“NYSC has zero tolerance for truancy and would not hesitate to punish any erring corps member, being a scheme of reward and punishment.

“Today, out of 872 corps members who passed out, two male and female have been shortlisted for Sultan meritorious award for their outstanding contributions to the development of Sokoto during the service year.

“Therefore, our commitment to serve our fatherland under the scheme will continue to prevail our position of reward or otherwise,” he said.

The coordinator advised the outgoing corps members to maximise the gain of skills acquisitions they learnt during the service year.

He appreciated the Sokoto state government, Sultanate Council and the entire people of the state for their sustained support to the success of the scheme.

He congratulated the NYSC Director General, Brig-Gen. Muhammad Fadah, for his successful 100 days in office and prayed that God should grant him more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the scheme. (NAN)
