Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has commended the Nigerian Army for its sustained efforts in tackling security challenges in the state and across the country.
Radda gave the commendation on Wednesday during a visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, on Thursday in Abuja.
The Governor praised the dedication and resilience of troops combating banditry and other security threats in Katsina, stating that their sacrifices had led to significant improvements in the security situation.
He also lauded the COAS for his continuous support to the troops and his recent visit to Katsina, which he said boosted the morale of personnel operating in the state.
Radda expressed the readiness of his administration to partner with the Nigerian army in establishing an additional unit in the state to further strengthen security operations.
He also acknowledged the synergy between the Katsina Community Watch Corps and the Nigerian Army, saying such collaboration was key to defeating criminal elements and restoring peace.
In his response, Oluyede thanked the governor for the visit and pledged the army’s continued commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens and creating a secure environment for economic growth.
He also appreciated the government and people of Katsina for their consistent support to the Army and called for sustained cooperation in the fight against insecurity. (NAN)
